Golden Milk is a traditional Ayurvedic drink, also known as turmeric milk. It's ingredients include some of the most potent known anti-inflammatory and antioxidant herbs and spices. I wanted to further enhance these benefits so I added a few of my own favorite herbs like black seed to the standard formula as well. The blend has a delicious taste, reminiscent of a pumpkin pie seasoning blend with overtones of turmeric and myrrh.
This blend is a combination of turmeric, Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, black seed, myrrh, cardamom, nutmeg, and black pepper. All the ingredients used are organic, except the myrrh which is wild-crafted.
A dose for Golden Milk ranges from 1-3 tsp. It is traditionally prepared by heating 1-2 cups of whole milk gently and stirring in the blend. 1-2 tsp of butter or ghee can be added to increase absorption of the active compounds and to enhance taste, and honey can be added to sweeten the blend as desired. A pinch of extra cinnamon and/or light cream can be used as a garnish.
Each tsp is equal to a little over 2g of the blend by weight, so each 4oz bag contains about 50 tsp overall. The blend is powdered and mixed thoroughly to ensure an even balance of all herbs/spices. Enjoy!
