White peony, or Paeonia lactiflora, is an herb used most often in traditional Chinese medicine.
White peony contains paeoniflorin, paeonol, albiflorin, oxypaeoniflorin, triterpenoids, phenolic acids, gallotannins, and flavonoids. Paeonol is the major bioactive ingredient isolated from this variety of peony.
When used in tea, a good starting dose for this herb appears to be 1-2g, or 1-4 root slices.
