Bacopa monnieri is an Ayurvedic herb used traditionally to promote cognition and reduce anxiety. It belongs to a class of herbs in Ayurveda known as the Medhya Rasayana, herbs that strengthen the spirit/intellect.
Bacopa contains bacosides, bacopasaponins, bacopasides I–XII, brahmine, herpestine, D-mannitol, apigenin, hersaponin, monnierasides I–III, cucurbitacin and plantainoside B. The bacosides are considered the primary active compounds.
Bacopa works best brewed in tea, either on its own or combined with other nootropic herbs. A good starting dose seems to be between 0.5-2 tsp. As with any herb, start small and work your way up
